HAVERFORD, Pa. - Returning to Walton Field after a three-match road swing, the Haverford College men's soccer team (3-6-5, 1-3-2 CC) recorded a scoreless draw with visiting McDaniel (8-2-3, 1-2-3 CC) on Saturday afternoon. Haverford held a 14-11 edge in shots, and had some great scoring opportunities throughout the contest, but ultimately the work of Austin Heid in the net and the backline of McDaniel helped to deny the Fords from finding a goal.

Haverford had some early opportunities as Paul-Andre Coulibaly and Andrew Fritz each recorded solid looks in the first 20 minutes of action. The Fords proved to be the more aggressive offensive team in the early goings, and created some chances in the midfield while McDaniel relied mainly on set pieces to establish its offensive rhythm.

Dylan Ioffreda frustrated the McDaniel forwards as he saved an attempt from Gage Souder in the 26th minute of play. Liam O'Malley came off the bench to provide an instant spark for the Fords, firing his header wide of the frame in the 42nd as the two sides headed to the intermission scoreless despite a renewed pace in the final moments of the stanza.

A flurry of offensive action came in the start of the second half, with Caleb Miller and Coulibaly helping to lead that charge as Coulibaly put two looks on frame in the 49th minute and fired wide in the 55th, before also rocketing a shot on target in the 58th minute.

Gabe Knopf notched a tally on frame in the 63rd, and O'Malley did the same in the 73rd, but Heid was again there to deny the opening goal. Tomas Ascoli and Coulibaly did some heavy lifting in the attacking third to create chances for the Fords in the final 20 minutes of play, but the McDaniel defense proved to be too strong as that unit has allowed just five goals all season and came into the contest ranked seventh in the nation in goals against average.

The Fords recorded five corner kicks, keeping the pressure on the Green Terror in their third shutout in a four-match stretch. Coulibaly logged three shots on goal, a game-high.

Haverford now continues the Centennial Conference homestretch as men's soccer heads back on the road for a 7 p.m. matchup with No. 18 Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday evening in Lancaster.
