Junior
Michael Hnatkowsky threw four touchdown passes and the defense did not allow a touchdown as the Muhlenberg football team rolled to a 42-5 win at Juniata.
Combined with a Franklin & Marshall loss at Susquehanna, the win left the eighth-ranked Mules (4-0, 3-0) in sole possession of first place in the Centennial Conference.
Senior
Frankie Feaster was one of seven different Muhlenberg players to record a sack, becoming the program's all-time leader with 25 for his career.
Hnatkowsky completed 18 of 25 passes for 210 yards in throwing at least four scoring strikes for the eighth time in his career. Junior
Nick Ugarte caught two of the TD passes, with seniors
Ryan Curtiss and
Max Kirin hauling in one apiece.
Kirin caught a second TD pass, but not from Hnatkowsky. It came on a trick play with junior running back
James Diggs completing his first career pass attempt to extend the lead to 21-0 early in the second quarter.
The Eagles (1-3, 1-2) drew to within 21-5 on a field goal and a safety before halftime, but junior
Daymon Fleming returned the opening kickoff of the second half 73 yards, and two plays later Hnatkowsky found Curtiss for his 100th career reception and a 23-yard touchdown.
Junior
Cole Draghi ran 27 yards for his first career touchdown with 5:23 left in the fourth.
Diggs (82 yards) and seniors
Mark Riggio (62) and
Nick DeLucas (34) tag-teamed the running attack, averaging 5.7 yards per carry.
The defense allowed only 49 rushing yards on 38 attempts and forced two turnovers, holding the reigning CC player of the week to 162 yards of total offense. Senior
Joseph O'Hagan notched his third interception of the season, and junior
Pat Palmer, making his season debut, recorded three tackles for loss, including a sack, and forced a fumble.
Sophomore
John Washington broke up two passes and recorded two tackles for loss. Junior
Joshua Barnett (pictured above) made eight solo tackles.
