NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. –
Senior Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) is making the most of his first trip to the national stage as he continued to rise up the individual standings at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship Thursday.

The lone Gettysburg College golfer left standing after Wednesday's cut, Harcourt rose 11 spots in the standings into a tie for 18th after shooting a two-over 74 Thursday. His total score of 223 puts him 10 back of the tournament leader Sam Goldenring of Williams College and just four strokes shy of the top 10.

Harcourt opened the third round on the back nine of the Champion Trace Course at the Keene Trace Golf Club. He birdied his first hole, but three bogeys left him at two-over midway through his round. The senior dominated the front nine with a double-bogey on the fourth hole his only blemish. Harcourt birdied the par-4, 423-yard No. 1 hole and capped his round with a birdie on the par-4, 415-yard ninth. He has totaled 10 birdies over three days of competition.

Harcourt will continue his climb up the standings and try to break the program record for best finish by a Gettysburg golfer on the national stage on Friday. Guillermo Nakada '95 finished 18th in the team's only other national appearance in 1994. Harcourt is set to play alongside Goldenring and David Schneider from St. John's in Friday's final round beginning at 9:10 a.m.
