Day Two Results
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Freshman
Anna Pienkos (North Haven, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) registered her first career bronze medal to lead the Gettysburg College women's track and field team on day two of the Centennial Conference (CC) Outdoor Championship on Saturday at Muhlenberg College.
Pienkos picked up a third-place showing in the high jump with a height of 4-10.50 out of 13 competitors. Classmate
Nicole Mangaroo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Polytech Prep Country Day) also placed in the same event, taking sixth with a new personal record (PR) of 4-10.50.
Mangaroo and the 4x800-meter relay team scored additional points on Saturday on the strength of their top-eight finishes. Mangaroo competed in the discus as well, throwing 113-07 to claim fifth overall, which is now the ninth best mark in outdoor history at Gettysburg. The 4x800-meter relay team of seniors
Paige Wesolowski (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket Regional),
Colleen Campbell (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy),
Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East), and junior
Leah Hill (Media, Pa./Penncrest) collected a sixth-place spot, clocking 10:08.26.
Gettysburg also had two athletes qualify for Sunday's finals in the 800-meter run by virtue of their top-eight finish in the preliminaries. Freshman
Georgia Larzelere (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and Wesolowski both move on after placing seventh (2:21.79) and eighth (2:24.15), respectively.
The meet concludes on Sunday, with events beginning at 11 a.m.
