CARLISE, Pa. – Juniors
Eric Liedtka (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) and
Caden Giordano (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) each posted a pair of wins to lead the Gettysburg College men's track and field team at the Little 3 Meet hosted by Dickinson College on Saturday.
Liedtka took the top spots in both hurdle events. He won a three-man race in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.52 and crossed the line first in the 400-meter edition with the only sub-minute time at 59.90.
Giordano won both the long jump and the triple jump on Saturday. The junior won the long jump by over four inches at 19 feet, 9 inches, while his distance in the triple jump bested the field by over four feet. Giordano cleared 44 feet, 2.5 inches and moved into fifth on the program's all-time list.
Gettysburg also received top performances from senior
Will Hopkins (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton) in the 800 meters and sophomore
Jake Dressler (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) in the high jump. Hopkins topped a field of 13 in the 800, holding off a pair of Dickinson runners to finish first in 2:02.80. Making his first appearance with the track and field team after competing on the wrestling team this winter, Dressler cleared the bar at exactly six feet to earn the top spot in the high jump.
Senior
Matt Weller (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) placed third in the high jump at 5 feet, 8.75 inches, while sophomore
Andrew Johnson (Henrico, Va./Collegiate School) finished third in the 400 meters at 57.78.
In the team scoring, Dickinson finished first with 159 points, while Franklin & Marshall College and Gettysburg finished with 139 and 97 points, respectively.
Gettysburg competes at the Millersville University Metrics next Saturday, April 2, at 9:30 a.m.
