GETTYSBURG, Pa. - No. 16 Swarthmore College Women's Swimming finished in first place at the Gettysburg Invitational.
The Garnet were first with 994.5 points, followed by Gettysburg College (818), Ursinus College (507), Dickinson College (395), Messiah University (335), Susquehanna University (196), Bryn Mawr College (165) and Elizabethtown College (134.5).
In the first day of swimming of the Gettysburg Invitational, a Swarthmore school record was broken. In the 400-medley relay,
Erin Szuromi,
Gaby Ma,
Annaliese Chen and
Georgi Mathews swam a program best time of 3:53.39. The group won the event by more than three-seconds.
The relay of
Sophie Rotival,
Ashley Wong,
Mackenzie Tucker and
Sarah Conley finished 200-free with a runner-up finish. The group recorded a time of 1:37.76.
Lauren Rohde earned a fourth place finish in the 500-free with a time of 5:13.62, which ranks tenth all-time.
In the second day of action, the Garnet broke another record. Szuromi added a victory for the Garnet with a win in the 100-back in a school record time of 58.33. Wong, Rotival, Szuromi and
Liz Gallagher started the day off with a victory in the 200-medley relay. The relay finished the event in 1:47.20, which is fifth on the Garnet all-time list. Rohde earned a victory in the 400-IM with a mark of 4:37.60, a time that ranks fourth on all-time. Wong and Gallagher went 1-2 in the 100-fly with times of 57.73 and 58.26, respectively. In the 100-breast, Ma touched the wall in 1:05.10 for a first place finish.
The Garnet return to the pool on January 15th ast hey host Rowan University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The tri-meet is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Ware Pool.
