GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg men's swimming team's assault on the school record book continued on Saturday, as the Bullets broke four more school relay records to finish the meet with new Gettysburg marks in all five relays at the inaugural Final Fall Fast Festival at the Gettysburg College Bullets Pool.

Both Bullet squads finished second behind Johns Hopkins University, which placed in the top-10 on the NCAA Division III Championships on both sides last season. Mary Washington's men's and women's teams each placed third while Dickinson, which only competed on Saturday, rounded out the team standings.

The incredibly-fast meet featured a total of three NCAA Division III Championship “A” cuts, 35 “B” cuts, and 21 pool records.

The Gettysburg men also established Centennial Conference (CC) records in every relay except the 400 medley. The Bullets already owned the CC record in all three freestyle relays, setting all three at last year's CC Championships, but lowered all three of those conference standards as well as the 200 medley relay.

Senior Matt Libby led the onslaught, swimming on all five teams. Freshmen Jason Potter and Mike Harmon competed on four of the teams while freshman Ashton Leyens contributed to three. Senior Roger Nawrocki and freshman Stu Cubbison helped set two relay records apiece.

Harmon also performed extremely well individually, including a stellar Saturday. After setting a school record and posting a“B” cut in the 200-backstroke Friday night, he followed up with another “B” cut in the 100-backstroke (51.78) on Saturday to go with a school record in the 200-IM (1:56.21), finishing third in both events. He eclipsed the former school mark of 1:56.81 set by Ryan McAnelly '05 in 2005. Harmon also swam the backstroke leg for both record-setting medley relay teams on Saturday after helping the 400-free relay team break the school and Centennial Conference record with a “B” cut on Friday.

The men's 200-medley relay began the day Saturday with a third-place finish, with Harmon, Nawrocki, Libby, and Cubbison clocking a 1:33.90. Their time was a full 1.80 seconds better than the previous school record set last season and 0.15 faster than the former Centennial Conference record set by Dickinson a year ago.

Potter, Leyens, sophomore Sean Staerk, and Libby closed Saturday's morning session in style in the 800-free relay, finishing second in 6:53.34 and taking 0.75 seconds off their previous school and conference record.

The men's team went on to open Saturday's evening session with another school and conference record, as the 200-free relay team of Potter, Cubbison, Leyens, and Libby touched the wall in a “B” cut time of 1:23.38, knocking 0.32 seconds of the former Gettysburg and CC standard. Finishing off the night was the 400-medley relay team of Harmon, Nawrocki, Libby, and Potter, which clocked a 3:27.72, surpassing the former school record of 3:28.74 set at last year's Centennial Conference Championships.

Libby also registered a “B” cut of his own on Saturday with his third-place finish in the 200-freestyle (1:41.01). Placing fourth were senior Pat McDevitt in the 400-IM (4:17.23), senior Drew Close in the 500-freestyle (4:48.15), and Potter in the 50-freestyle (21.20), while the Bullets posted 13 additional top-eight performances.

Senior Tom Everett finished fifth in the 100-butterfly (52.00) as did Potter in the 200-freestyle (1:43.55), Nawrocki in the 100-breaststroke (59.33), and sophomore Adam Weinbrom in the 100-backstroke (53.62). Placing sixth were freshman Kevin Nicholson in the 400-IM (4:18.09), Leyens in the 200-freestyle (1:43.60), and Staerk in the 500-freestyle (4:50.13).

Taking seventh were Close in the 200-freestyle (1:44.23) and Cubbison in the 50-freestyle (21.62) while senior Kyle Bauer (400 IM, 4:29.42), freshman Patrick Sweeney (100-butterfly, 53.03), Staerk (200-freestyle, 1:44.30), and Everett (50-freestyle, 22.16) all added eighth-place finishes.

Turning in the top finish for the women's team was junior Caroline Coolidge, who took fourth in the 400-IM (4:50.18). Sophomore Perri Finnican added a fifth-place showing in the 100-breaststroke (1:09.82) while freshman Haley Weaver placed sixth in both the 200-freestyle (1:58.86) and the 200-IM (2:14.86). Freshman Cooper Kearns also turned in a sixth-place finish in the 500-freestyle (5:16.60) as did sophomore Ali Roth in the 50-freestyle (25.39).

Placing seventh were junior Siobhan Collins in the 400-IM (4:52.57), junior Brooke Lacey in the 100-breaststroke (1:11.27), and senior Kayte Demont in the 100-backstroke (1:02.33). Sophomore Jess D'Alessandro contributed an eight-place showing in the 400-IM (5:02.12).

Gettysburg will now take a 48-day break from competition before returning to action on Jan. 21 with a home dual meet versus Mary Washington.
