HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (2-1) was defeated 2-0 by No. 9 TCNJ (2-0) in the championship game of the Haverford Kick Off Classic on Saturday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Hannah Friedrich tied her career high with nine saves in the contest, proving to be heroic between the pipes on Walton Field as the Lions applied pressure in their attacking third throughout her 70 minutes of work.

Turning away shot after shot in the first half, Friedrich was tested on set pieces as TCNJ earned 19 corners in the match. The visitors finally broke through in the 35th minute, as Lindsay O'Keefe fired in a shot that was impressively saved by Friedrich. Friedrich's lunging save went off her fingertips and redirected towards the far post, where Victoria D'Imperio was waiting to collect the deflection and give her team a 1-0 lead.

TCNJ added a goal in the 89th minute against Claire Cywes, who entered in relief for the final 20 minutes of action in goal. Cywes finished with two saves of her own.

The Fords now return to action on Saturday, September 11 as they head to Lebanon Valley for a 1 p.m. contest. Haverford is 6-2-2 all-time against LVC, with a 4-0 win in the last meeting between the two teams in 2019. Celia Page and Gabrielle Cipriano both scored in that victory.
