Box Score 2 REDLANDS, Calif.—No. 31 Swarthmore College Men's Tennis slipped in its split squad matchup with Hope International University and the University of Redlands on Wednesday.
Swarthmore 3, Hope Int'l 6
Neel Gupta and Max Gruber partnered together for a win at third doubles, 8-6. Noah Cheng and William Teoh nearly got the W in the second doubles flight, but fell in the tiebreaker game.
Kevin Xu collected a win in second singles 6-1, 6-2, and Gupta won his second match of the day, taking sixth singles 6-3, 6-4.
Swarthmore 2, Redlands 7
Swarthmore picked up a win in third doubles as Simon Vernier and Weiyi Zhu won 8-6. Jiung Jung battled in top singles. He won his first set 6-3 before dropping the second set 7-5. He pushed his opponent to the brink in the super tiebreaker but fell 11-9.
Noah Criss earned the win at sixth singles 6-1, 6-4.
Swarthmore now competes at the Stag-Hen Invitational in Claremont, California, on Friday.
