Volleyball Drops Matches to F&M, Stockton

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore College Volleyball fought hard in a Garnet Weekend tri-match with Franklin and Marshall and Stockton in a battle at Tarble Pavilion.
 
The Garnet took the first set against Diplomats but fell in four sets, 25-18, 23-25, 15-25, and 26-28. Swarthmore dropped the final match of the night to the Ospreys, 21-25, 19-25, 25-22 and 12-25.

The Garnet trailed early but took the first set of the conference match with a score of 25-18. After falling behind 2-0 in the first set, the Garnet got on the board with a kill by Mehra den Braven
 
Sierra Tyson notched a team 21 assist and three aces. The setter added 15 digs for the Garnet. Swarthmore was led by 11 kills from Emma Morgan-Bennett.
 
Sarah Carrasco recorded 20 digs for the fifth time this season.  
 
Swarthmore 1, Stockton 3
After losing the two sets to Stockton, Swarthmore fought to steal a see-saw third set 25-22.The teams exchanged points early in the third set before the Garnet were able to capitalize.
 
Swarthmore was led by ten kills from Alexa Bartlett against the Ospreys. Two Swarthmore freshmen tallied at least 20 digs in the match: Carrasco (23) and Tyson (20). Den Braven added 13 digs and eight kills for the Garnet. Swarthmore received seven kills from Morgan-Bennett and six kills from Chloe Mayhue.  
 
The Garnet fall to 9-7 and 2-2 in Centennial play. Swarthmore returns to the court on Friday as they host Marymount, Messisah and Scranton in a weekend quad-match.
