GETTYSBURG, PA – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team picked up its first two dual-meet victories of the season as the Blue Jays rallied for a 27-19 win against home-standing Gettysburg and topped Delaware Valley, 40-18, Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference.

Against the Bullets
Johns Hopkins trailed 19-9 after the bout at 165, but rallied to win the final four bouts to secure to the victory. Junior
Dominick Reyes jump-started the rally as he pinned Phil Angelo with 58 seconds left in the third period at 174 to slice the deficit to 19-15 and
Joe Paul followed with a 12-7 decision of Brendan Loder at 184 to make it a one-point match. Senior
Nathan Wertheimer gave the Blue Jays the lead for good with a quick 52-second pin of Jon Stix at 197 and
Hank Behaeghel secured the victory with a 12-5 win over Paul Pelham.

The teams had split the first four matches with Hopkins getting a first-period pin from freshman
Brent Lorin at 125 and a big 4-3 win by sophomore
Jared Osborne at 149 over Colin Devlin. Devlin was the 2019 Centennial Conference runner-up at 149 and also placed fourth at the NCAA Southeast Regional. The Bullets, who led 11-9 after the first four bouts, got a technical fall at 157 and a decision at 165 to go up 19-9 before Reyes used 6:02 to earn his pin and start the match-ending spree for the Blue Jays.

Against the Aggies
In a match where only four bouts were actually wrestled due to Delaware Valley being limited by injuries, the Blue Jays used a major decision by Paul at 174 and another first-period pin from Wertheimer at 184 to fuel the victory against the Aggies.

The Blue Jays have won two straight and 11 of the last 13 against Gettysburg, while the win against the Aggies is the first-ever for Johns Hopkins, which had lost its only two previous matches against Delaware Valley.
