BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week Hannah Friedrich tallied her fifth shutout of the season in Haverford's (5-4-2, 2-2-1 CC) 1-0 victory over Bryn Mawr (1-8, 1-4 CC) at Applebee Field, as the Fords backline stifled the Owls, allowing just three shots from the hosts on the afternoon.

Haverford tallied its first shot on goal in the opening minute, with Gabrielle Cipriano putting one on frame. Haverford took the first eight shots of the contest, as the Fords dominated possession in the first 20 minutes of play. The first wave of reinforcements arrived in the 19th minute as Bryn Mawr broke through into the attacking third for its first sustained chance after the round of substitutions.

Friedrich was then called into action on a shot attempt from Sarah Coufal, but Haverford went back on the offensive. Celia Page rocketed a pair of shot attempts on frame in the 31st and 33rd minutes, before Jaclyn Corbin found Nora Gaby-Biegel with a one-time pass in front of the goal mouth as the ball bounced around following a corner kick from Page. Gaby-Biegel registered her third tally of the season with the strike. She is now tied with Page for the team lead in goals as each have tallied a game-winner this season.

The Fords closed out the half with shot attempts from Ashley Chun and Elle Ferreira, keeping up the offensive pressure heading into the intermission. Page and McMillian had strong chances on frame in the 59th and 61st minute, and Haverford worked in another fresh line of substitutions, a group who made the most of their appearances as Sophia Miranda and Sadie Kim each notched shots on goal in that stretch. Friedrich was called into action in the 85th minute, saving a Grace Floreck shot to preserve the shutout.

In total, Haverford held a 24-3 shot advantage, with Page leading all players with six. Cipriano and Liv McMillan each notched four shots. The Fords are now unbeaten in their last 28 meetings with Bryn Mawr, and have allowed just one goal in that span.

The Fords will now return to action on Saturday, October 9 at home on Walton Field with a 12 p.m. contest against Ursinus. The soccer doubleheader will also see the men's team taking on the Bears at approximately 3 p.m.
