ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (3-0-1) remained undefeated with an emphatic 2-1 victory over Lebanon Valley (0-2-2) Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field. Grace Haskell scored the equalizer just seconds before the halftime buzzer, and Liv McMillan added the eventual game-winner in the 60th minute. The Fords held a commanding 19-5 edge in shots on the day.

Haverford was forced to chase the game from the start, as Darrian Berkheimer buried the first goal of the contest for the hosts just 17 seconds into play, taking a cross from Reagan McCarty and finishing for an early lead. McCarty took a feed downfield and streaked towards goal, making a long lob to Berkheimer on the far side of the goal, who was in perfect position to slot a shot past Claire Cywes

A defensive battle ensued from that point, with Haskell breaking the scoreless stretch in the 45th minute after a Lebanon Valley goal kick was intercepted around midfield. The Fords calmly set up their counter-attack and the ball found the foot of Grace Haskell in the box. Haskell rattled her shot off the crossbar, but the attempt went bar down and into the back of the net to tie the score at 1-1, giving the sophomore her second of the season.

In the second period, a flurry of shots from Celia Page and Keira Prince put LVC on notice with Haverford holding the offensive momentum and much of the possession of the early goings of the second frame. The dam finally broke in the 60th minute with Liv McMillan slotting a shot past the goalkeeper and towards the near post as the Fords finally got the go-ahead goal they had been building towards for much of the half.

McMillan had two more shots just moments later, and Phoebe Garfield also had a strong look with a shot that sailed high. McMillan, Haskell, and Sadie Kim all had their shots saved down the stretch as the Fords continued to apply offensive pressure despite holding the slim lead. LVC was held without a shot in the final 20 minutes.

Prince and McMillan each had three shots on frame to pace the Fords, while Alyssa Peiffer was the only Lebanon Valley player with multiple shots on the afternoon. Jocelyn Umana made 10 saves for the Dutchmen.

Haverford is unbeaten in its last six contests with Lebanon Valley. The Fords hold a 7-2-3 edge in the series, which dates back to 2009. The Fords now return home on Tuesday with a matchup slated for 5 p.m. against visiting DeSales. The contest with the Bulldogs is the first of three consecutive home games for Haverford.
