CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College claimed four singles matches to get by Gettysburg College 5-4 in Centennial Conference men's tennis action Saturday.
 
Gettysburg (5-7, 0-3 CC) jumped in front with two wins in doubles action. Sophomore Harrison Brown (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and junior Jacob Meehan (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) opened things up with an 8-2 at No. 3, while senior Nick D'Amore (Scotch Plains, N.J./Wardlaw-Hartridge) and junior Mike Mills (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) picked up an 8-6 win at No. 1. The Bullets nearly pulled off the doubles sweep, but senior Kevin Maier (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) and sophomore Tommy Gilio (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) came up short in a tiebreaker 8-7 (7-3).
 
Washington (4-4, 2-1 CC) jumped in front with wins at fourth and first singles before Maier tied things up after his opponent at No. 3 retired in the third set. The Shoremen quickly clinched the team victory with wins at No. 2 and No. 5. Brown capped the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the sixth flight.
 
Gettysburg hosts Dickinson College Wednesday, April 10, at 4 p.m.
