SWARTHMORE, Pa.--Swarthmore College Field Hockey opened up the 2019 Centennial Conference slate by taking the Dickinson College Red Devils to overtime, but fell 2-1.

Chelsea Semper upped her team-leading season goal total to four after netting a penalty stroke in the final 90 seconds of the first half.
The Garnet tallied nine total attempts with four on goal. For the match, Swarthmore recorded two penalty corners.

The Garnet (2-4, 0-1 Centennial) kept Dickinson (4-3, 1-0 Centennial) off the board for the entire first quarter and didn't concede a goal until the 26th minute. Swarthmore responded shortly thereafter by making a deep run into Dickinson territory. With the Dickinson goalkeeper coming off her line to make a stop, Swarthmore attempted a shot that was played by a defender on the line with her body, awarding Swarthmore the penalty stroke.
Semper, who scored three goals in her previous outing, lined up to take the stroke. She snapped a hard low shot into the bottom left of the cage to equalize the contest at 1-1.
Swarthmore battled the Red Devils to keep them off the board, facing 13 shots in the process.
Lankford came up with a save a minute into overtime, but Dickinson caged the golden goal in the 63rd minute for the win.
Swarthmore travels to Ursinus College on Wednesday night and will face the Bears at 7 p.m.
