Men's Swimming Outpaces Widener

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.
– The Ursinus College men's swimming team treated the home crowd to a 194-57 victory over Widener University on Saturday afternoon.
 
 
 
With the win, the Bears improve to 3-2 on the season, meanwhile the Pride fall to 4-2 overall.
 
 
 
Ursinus opened the dual meet with the top two times in the 200-yard medley relay and never looked back winning 12 of the 13 events. First-year David McCauley carried the momentum into the second event as he earned the best time at 10:06.12. Sophomore Jonah Kasznay continued to shine earning three first-place finishes during the meet. Kasznay earned victories in the 200 free (1:47.51), breast (2:16.94), and IM (2:00.33). Classmate Dylan Schreffler finished close behind in the 200 free, earning a second-place finish with a time of 1:51.24.
 

 
Senior Ryan Schreffler took first in the 100 back with a time of 55.87, while classmate Ryan Carkhuff earned the top times in the 50 free (21.39) and 100 fly (55.21). Francesco D'Avella, Jake Hennegan, and Stephen Lyons swept the top-three times in the 100 breast, while Jan Perez-Bonilla (1st, 2:02.48) and Daniel Leach (2:11.01) earned two of the three best times in the 200 fly. Lyons collected the top-time in the 100 free touching the wall at 48.54, while sophomore Kevin Sonn earned a second-place finish in the 50 free (22.30) and 200 breast (2:16.98).
 
 

Ursinus had a great showing in the 500 freestyle as Hennegan, Jake Klucinec, and Perez-Bonilla swept the top three times. The Bears closed out the dual meet with the best time in the 400 free relay as the quartet of Dylan Schreffler, Ryan Schreffler, Lyons, and Carkhuff combined for a time of 3:16.23.

 

Ursinus will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Gettysburg for a Centennial Conference matchup.
