Juniors
Gnim Bazim and
Mark Winter each scored their second goal of the year to lift the Muhlenberg men's soccer team over Washington College 2-1.
Bazim put the Mules on the board in the 16th minute after finding a loose ball on the backside of a corner kick. Senior
Matthew Athanas-Linden's kick from the right corner bounced off a head in the box to the backside where Bazim was waiting to get his head on it for the goal.
Senior goalkeeper
Raymond Leto stood tall to maintain the one-goal lead by making five saves before Winter put Muhlenberg (9-6-2, 2-6-1) in front 2-0 in the 78th minute. Winter was set up by freshman
Taylan Akdag who fed the goal scorer near the top of the box. Winter took a few touches before firing from the top left of the box and bending the ball into the back of the net.
The goal boosted the Mules' energy; however, the Shoremen (7-9-1, 1-7-1) were able to get one goal back with 2:13 remaining but couldn't establish another attack for an equalizer.
Prior to the start of the match the Mules recognized their 10 seniors –
