LEHIGH, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Cross Country placed 30th at the extremely competitive Paul Short Brown Run on Saturday afternoon with a score of 742 and an average time of 26:05 for the 8K race.
The race features teams from all NCAA Divisions and was won by University of New Hampshire with a score of 114.
Swarthmore had one runner crack the top-100 in scoring. Brendan Penfold led Swarthmore with 83 points and a time of 25:37.0. Vaughn Parts posted Swarthmore's next best time with a 26:07.3 and 155 points. Lucas Heinzerling was right there with Parts, finishing in 26:09.3 for 161st.
Freshman Aidan Cantine stepped into Swarthmore's top-five as he crossed just three seconds after Heinzerling at 26:12.5. Sophomore Ethan Rothenberg was another three seconds after Cantine to lock in Swarthmore's fifth spot at 174 points with a time of 26:15.2.
The Garnet, ranked 10th in the region, have two weeks to prepare for the Rowan Border Battle on Oct. 19.
