CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team nearly pulled off a sweep in doubles play at Washington College, but the Bullets came up short in singles action on the way to a 7-2 setback to the Shoremen.
 
Gettysburg (2-7, 0-7 CC) busted out with victories at first and third doubles against Washington (7-6, 5-2 CC). Freshman Harrison Brown (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and sophomore Jacob Meehan (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) bolted to an 8-2 victory at No. 3, while junior Kevin Maier (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) and freshman Tommy Gilio (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) picked up their second consecutive 9-7 win at the top position.
 
The Bullets just missed a sweep as senior Christian Deschapelles (Riverside, Conn./King School) and junior Nick D'Amore (Scotch Plains, N.J./Wardlaw-Hartridge) fell in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-5) at No. 2.
 
The Shoremen rallied to win each of the six singles matches in straight-sets. D'Amore was upended in an opening-set tiebreaker and fell 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 at the second flight.
 
Gettysburg travels to McDaniel College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
