rd-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team grabbed an early 2-1 lead and went on to upset 13
th-ranked Mary Washington, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Hopkins picked up two wins in doubles to take early control in the match. Freshman
Evelyn Chang and senior
Katie Gauch took the first point of the match with an 8-3 win at third over Sophie Dixon and Olivia Moore. Lauren Quinn and Rachel Summers, ranked third in the region, grabbed an 8-7 win over sophomore
Anjie Kashyap and junior
Sophia Strickland. Sophomore
Dhanya Asokumar and senior
Kimberly Zou won by the same score at second over Claire Coleman and Danielle Mirabella, ranked 12
th in the region.
• The Blue Jays then took four of the six singles matches to capture the win. Kashyap grabbed a three-set win over Summers at first 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Coleman answered with a three-set win over Strickland at second 6-7, 7-5, 6-2. Zou rallied for a three-set win at third over Quinn 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
• Chang secured the win for Hopkins with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Mirabella at fourth. Asokumar lost just three games in her win over Dixon 6-1, 6-2 at fifth. Cooper picked up another point for the Eagles as she beat freshman
Jessica Liang 7-5, 6-3. Â

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 10-11 all-time against Mary Washington and avenges a 6-3 loss in last season's meeting. The Blue Jays are 10-2 against the Eagles since 2009.
