Women's Soccer Held Scoreless by Stevens, 3-0

HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (3-4-2) was edged by host Stevens (2-4-2), falling by a 3-0 final Wednesday night at Debaun Athletic Complex. The game had a total of 29 shots, with Stevens outshooting the Fords 19-10.

After just five minutes, both teams would register shots, but none of them caused a threat. Gianna Nitti's shot for Stevens went over the crossbar, and Sarah Klink's shot for Haverford then went wide left. Stevens would strike first after scoring from a corner kick in the 12th minute. Ally Wanzor headed home the chance with the assist going to Catalina Abusada.

The Ducks would continue to put pressure on Haverford with a barrage of shots and added another goal in the final seconds of the first half. Amelia Rehrig converted from outside the box just thirty seconds before the first-half whistle.

In the second half, the Fords were more evenly matched and started to get shots of their own. Celia Page led the charge with shots in the 58th and 64th minute, but the Stevens goalkeeper stopped both attempts.

A few more shots came from the Fords as they tried to work through an aggressive Ducks midfield and defense. Both teams continued to play hard until the final whistle. Stevens added one more goal to increase their lead further when Rehrig found the back of the net in the 88th minute of play.

Women's soccer now has a quick turnaround this week, as they return home to Walton Field for a contest against Muhlenberg on Saturday, October 2 at 3 p.m.
