Women's Tennis Seizes Spring Break Finale

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team polished off its spring break trip with a flourish, handling Baldwin Wallace by a 7-2 count to finish 4-1 on its southern swing.

Cara Freedman and Maddie Russell stayed undefeated at No. 2 doubles while Summer Burkholder and Caitlyn Sorelle picked up victories after being honored in a pre-match Senior Day ceremony for the Bears, who moved to 6-1 overall.

Burkholder and Madisen Harvey rolled past their third doubles foes, 8-1, and Freedman and Russell moved to 7-0 on the year with an 8-2 win. Sorelle and Brenna Trkula registered an 8-4 victory at No. 1 to finish off the doubles sweep.

In what might have been her final match, just a day after learning springs sports would be suspended indefinitely, Burkholder cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 rout at No. 5 singles.

Trkula tallied a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3, and Harvey was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at No. 6.

Russell prevailed in a third-set super tiebreaker, edging out an intense tilt with Ashtyn Morris at No. 2 by a 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 decision.

Freedman fell in a third set tiebreaker at No. 4.
