The Muhlenberg women's basketball team fell at Gettysburg, 69-58, in a matchup of the last two undefeated Centennial Conference teams.
The Bullets (9-2, 6-0) entered the game ranked 18th in the most recent D3hoops.com poll, while the Mules (9-2, 5-1) were 25th in the most recent Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll. Since those rankings were released, more than three weeks ago, Muhlenberg had played just one game, and none in the last 17 days, while Gettysburg already had two post-holiday break games under its belt.
Muhlenberg jumped out to an early 8-3 lead behind a pair of three-pointers from junior
Emilie Benton, but Gettysburg rebounded to take a one-point lead by the end of the first quarter. The Mules managed only one field goal in the first five minutes of the second quarter, and by that time the Bullets had built a double-digit lead. Muhlenberg got no closer than six points the rest of the way.
The Mules scored 24 points - one off their season high for a quarter - in the fourth quarter. Freshman
Margaux EripretÂ
(pictured above) scored eight of her career-high 11 points in the fourth, going 4-for-4 from the field to become the 10th different Muhlenberg player to score in double figures this season.
Junior
Emily O'Mahoney and sophomore
Ny Thomas finished with 9 points apiece.
