• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team dropped its first game of the season as the Blue Jays fell to #20 Gettysburg in a tough 67-60 game on the road on Thursday night.

How it Happened
• The first quarter saw the top teams in the conference's preseason poll go back-and-forth in the opening 10 minutes of play. A free throw by Diarra Oden at 1:26 brought the Blue Jays to within one at 11-10 and a layup by Rory Cole with five seconds remaining gave Hopkins a 12-11 lead after the first.
• The Bullets opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run to pull ahead 18-12. A layup from Maggie Spitzer followed by a three from Lillian Scott pulled Johns Hopkins to within one at 5:11.
• Gettysburg got its lead back up to seven on a layup by Meredith Brown at 1:11 to make the score 30-23, but Oden stole the ball and set up Lexie Scholtz for a layup to pull the Blue Jays to within five. Oden connected with Scholtz off another steal and Scholtz drilled a three with two seconds remaining in the half to make the score 30-28 Gettysburg after 20 minutes of play.
• Scholtz opened the third with a layup to tie the game at 30 and two free throws by Scott gave the Blue Jays a 32-30 advantage. Just like the first quarter, the two teams went back-and-forth with neither team gaining much of a lead.  A layup from Spitzer with 54 seconds left in the quarter gave JHU a 42-41 lead.
• The Bullets took a two-point lead at 6:33 but a layup from Scott tied the game at 49. Gettysburg then went on an 11-2 run to make the score 60-51 with 2:31 remaining. A layup from Spitzer made the score 62-55, but Gettysburg would hold on and claim the 67-60 victory.
