FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Washington and Lee senior 184-pounder Rexx Hallyburton (Bishop, Ga. / Oconee County) and junior 149-pounder Bryce Crew (St. Mary's, Ga. / Camden County) have advanced to the semifinals of their brackets after the first day of competition at the Citrus Wrestling Invitational held in Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday. 

Third-ranked Augsburg leads the impressive 15-team field with 114.0 points.  The 24th-ranked Generals are in sixth-place with 66.5 points.  NYU, ranked 15th, sits second with 113.5 points, while seventh-ranked Baldwin-Wallace (100.0) is third, 21st-ranked John Carroll (84.5) is fourth and Ferrum (75.0) is fifth.
 
Hallyburton won both of his matches on Sunday to advance to the semifinals, where he will face Doug Byrne of Baldwin-Wallace.  Hallyburton opened with a pin of John Carroll's Thomas Blackwell in just 52 seconds and then he notched a 6-3 decision over Scott Dupont of NYU.
 
Crew won three matches to advance to the semis, where he will meet Mario Vasquez of Ferrum.  Crew began his day with a win by fall over Jason Geyer (4:21) of NYU and then he pinned Conner Deboe of Baldwin-Wallace in 2:04.  His third match was a 5-0 win over Brady Gross of Augsburg.
 
Five additional Generals are still alive in the consolation rounds and are guaranteed to finish eighth or better in their weight classes.  Sophomore 157-pounder Ryan Luth (Milford, Conn. / Joseph A. Foran), sophomore 197-pounder Brad Basham (Burlington, Mass. / Buckingham Browne & Nichols) and first-year 149-pounder Alex Winant (Chester, N.J. / West Morris Mendham) all went 3-1 overall on Sunday, while senior Shane Conners (Mount Airy, Md. / South Carroll) and sophomore Joe Salerno (Princeton Junction, N.J. / West Windsor-Plainsboro South) each went 2-1 overall.
 
Action continues on Monday with the final day of competition at the Citrus Invitational.
