Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Kockenmeister Scores Four In Garnet Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Sophomore Kim Kockenmeister tallied four goals, tying a Centennial Conference record for most goals in a single game, to lead No. 14 Swarthmore Women's Soccer past visiting Eastern Connecticut State University 7-1 on Sunday night.

Kockenmeister is the 12th women's soccer player in Centennial history to post four goals in a game. The only other Swarthmore student-athlete on that list is Elizabeth Fortier who scored four goals against Alvernia in 1999.

Brittany Weiderhold, Sophia Stills and Nikki Gibbons also scored in the rout. Weiderhold added a pair of assists. Stills, Louise Rosler, Eleonore Moser and Jacinta Fernandes-Brough each contributed a helper as well.

The Garnet pounced early with Kockenmeister scoring in the fifth minute. Weiderhold and Stills followed with goals in the eighth and 10th minutes, and Kockenmeister netted her second in the 11th minute taking a shot from a tough angle near the endline, left of the goal.

Swarthmore took a 4-0 lead into halftime and then added another in the 49th minute on a brilliant diving header by Gibbons to finish off a corner kick.

Kockenmeister completed her hat trick in the 52nd minute and added her fourth in the 60th minute.

Eastern Connecticut got on the board in the 82nd minute, but it was way too little, too late.

Swarthmore (1-1) travels to Madison, New Jersey next weekend to play Drew University and the Coast Guard Academy.
