WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team competed against both Division II and III schools today at the Golden Ram Classic hosted by West Chester University on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Isaiah Battle continued his consistency in the hammer throw as he recorded a throw of 53.08 meters to finish second in the meet. Classmate
Tim Holzapfel finished fourth with his throw of 48.63 meters and sophomore
Chase Shaneman recorded a career best throw of 38.60 meters in the hammer and finished ninth overall. Battle also led the Bears in the discus after recording a personal best throw of 45.96 meters to finish second and Shaneman finished fourth with a throw of 41.29 meters, also a career best. Sophomore
Tom Wood led the Bears in the shot put by finishing third on this throw of 14.42 meters and Battle followed in fourth with his mark of 14.16 meters. Senior
Harrison Bonanny finished seventh in the shot put behind his career best throw of 13.59 meters. Ursinus had finishers second through fifth in the javelin as Shaneman led the way in second with his throw of 47.70 meters. Sophomore
Anthony Peloro finished third with his throw of 44.60 meters, junior
Eric Tanz placed fourth on a 43.50 meter throw, and junior
Eric Sugarman recorded a mark of 42.67 meters to round out the top five.
Junior
Tucker McGrath led three Bears in the top-10 for the 800 meters as he finished fourth with his time of 1:57.24. Sophomores
Christian Rosado and
Paul Faggioli posted times of 2:01.75 and 2:02.31 to finish seventh and eighth, respectively. Junior
Will Gillette impressed in the 5,000 meters by recording a new career best time of 15:59.61 and finished third overall.
The Bears return to action next weekend on Friday, April 14th and Saturday, April 15th as the squad will split with athletes competing between Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational and Messiah's Track & Field Invitational.
