ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore
Nicholas Grissinger (Palmyra, Pa./Milton Hershey) captured the gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles, leading the Gettysburg College men's track and field team on the third and final day of the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship on Sunday at Muhlenberg College.
The Bullets scored 76 points to place sixth in the team standings. Johns Hopkins University claimed the conference title with 212.5 and was followed by Swarthmore College (122), Ursinus College (118.5), Haverford College (95.5), and Dickinson College (80). Gettysburg placed in front of both Muhlenberg College (75.5), McDaniel College (55), and Franklin & Marshall College (17).
Grissinger became the third individual at Gettysburg to win a Centennial Conference 400-meter hurdles outdoor title. He clocked a 55.61 time, which moves him into sixth all-time at Gettysburg. The last Bullet to accomplish the feat was
Chris Cole '09, who won it twice in 2008 and 2006, while
Philip Ferraro also achieved the top spot in back-to-back years (2002-03).

Thad Cwiklinski (Glen Rock, Pa./York Catholic), and Grissinger displayed a strong performance as they took second overall with a 3:25.02 time. Cwiklinski also competed in the finals of the 400-meter dash, taking fourth with a 50.68 time.
Senior
Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) competed in two events on the final day in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter run, placing sixth (1:57.56) and seventh (4:01.09), respectively.

Matthew Simmers (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian Hills) in the 110-meter hurdles (sixth, 16.68, new PR) and 400-meter hurdles (sixth, 1:02.29), the 4x100-meter relay team (seventh, 44.96), and sophomore
E.J. Fernandez (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) in the 100-meter dash (eighth, 11.40).
A handful of athletes will return to action for Gettysburg on Monday, May 13 at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.
