Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Floodgates Open; Garnet Score Five On Owls

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Thick fog blanketed Clothier Field on Tuesday night and steady rains created pools all over the turf, wreaking havoc on passes all night, but Swarthmore College Women's Soccer fought through the elements and took care of the visiting Bryn Mawr College Owls 5-2.

The game, coincidentally, had been scheduled for last Wednesday but was moved to Tuesday after the field had flooded on that day.

It took just 90 seconds for Swarthmore to find the back of the net. Sophia Stills fired off a shot that was saved but fell out of the reach of Bryn Mawr's goalkeeper. Grace Taylor swooped in and cleaned up the rebound for her first goal of the season.

Eleonore Moser added a tally for the Garnet in the 9th minute but Bryn Mawr responded in the 15th minute, cutting Swarthmore's lead to 2-1 on a well-struck shot.

The Garnet went back on the offensive in the 16th minute as Brittany Weiderhold netted her sixth goal of the season off a feed from Sydney Covitz. Covitz got a goal of her own in the 49th minute by tapping in a saved shot attempt by Stills, scoring in nearly the same way that Taylor had in the first half.

Swarthmore's fifth and final goal came in the 57th minute on a low skittering shot from Lizzie King, her third of the season.

The Garnet out-shot Bryn Mawr 31-9 in the contest. Chantal Reyes and Nora Greer combined for three saves for the Garnet.

Swarthmore returns to the field on Saturday for Senior Day against Gettysburg College. The Garnet play at 7 p.m.
