GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg College dropped a 7-2 decision to Dickinson College in Centennial Conference women's tennis action on Wednesday.
Gettysburg (4-9, 3-4 CC) suffered a sweep to Dickinson (7-8, 3-4 CC) in doubles play. Juniors
Maddie Class (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and
Maria Martinovic (Lawrence Township, N.J./Princeton Day School) narrowly missed a win at the second flight, falling 8-6 to Hanna Butler and Olivia Shea.
Class came back to defeat Shea in a third-set tiebreaker at fourth singles, wiping away a first-set loss to win 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-7. Sophomore
Ava Vanhelfteren (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) pulled off a 12-10 win in an opening set tiebreaker and swept through the second set for a 7-6 (12-10), 6-0 decision over Emily Sprague at No. 5.
Gettysburg visits Washington College this Saturday at 1 p.m.
