GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Competing in its third consecutive Centennial Conference title game, the Gettysburg College women's basketball team fell to Haverford College inside Bream Gym on Saturday evening 62-40.
It was the second straight season where the Bullets and Fords battled it out for the championship title inside Bream Gym. Haverford wins its second title in six years as they defeated Johns Hopkins University 66-56 back in 2014 on their home court.

Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) led Gettysburg with nine points and four rebounds. Senior
Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) added seven points and four boards while sophomore
Meredith Brown (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) snagged a team-high eight rebounds.
Macy Goldbach was named Tournament MVP after posting a game-high 22 points, hitting 9-of-15 from the field, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the finale. Anna-Sophia Capizzi produced 17 points, five boards, and three assists for the Fords.
The Bullets and Fords were ready to play in the first quarter as both teams traded punches. Haverford struck first in the opening seconds, but Gettysburg closed out the period with an 8-0 run. Freshman
Tori Yantsos (Rockville, Md./Holy Child) netted five points and Dorshimer tallied three points in the run to give the Bullets a 16-11 advantage at the end of the quarter. The Orange and Blue shot 42.9 percent from the floor, holding the Fords to 33.3 percent overall.
Yantsos started the second quarter by draining her second free throw attempt to extend Gettysburg's advantage by six. The turning point of the contest came right after as Haverford hit back-to-back threes to ignite a 15-0 run in roughly three and a half minutes. A trey by freshman
Christina Richson (Summit, N.J./Summit) cut the deficit down to seven with 2:10 left in the period, but a lay-up by Julianna Clark pulled the Fords further ahead 35-24 heading into halftime.
Haverford continued with the offensive flow and never let up in the second half as they held a double-digit advantage for the rest of the game. The Fords outscored Gettysburg 27-16 in the half and held the largest lead of the game at 22 points off a three-pointer by Macy Goldbach with 49 seconds left.
Gettysburg finished 12-of-53 (22.6 percent) from the floor, while Haverford hit 24-of-53 (45.3 percent). The Fords also knocked down 10 three-pointers and out-rebounded the Bullets 36-33.
With the win, Haverford receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Gettysburg will await their fate to see if they will land in the NCAA Tournament with the selection show happening on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
