SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 25 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis rolled to an 8-1 win over the visiting Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats in the Mullan Tennis Center on Saturday morning.
The Garnet improved to 9-4 on the season and 5-1 in Centennial Conference action while the Diplomats dipped to 7-6 and 5-3 in league matches.
Swarthmore swept doubles play. Elise Talley and Christina Wang won 8-3 at top doubles. Emma Kassan and Vivien Fernandez-Ravelo swept second doubles 8-0. In third doubles, Swarthmore's Sophie Brown and Sonia Varma only lost one set.
Varma won 6-3, 6-3 in second singles, and Brown won in a super tiebreaker 10-5 after splitting the first two sets.
Talley collected a 6-2, 6-2 win at fourth singles. Fifth and sixth singles were settled in pro-sets. Audrey Haring won 8-0, and Shivani Gupta won sixth singles 8-1.
Swarthmore will make up its postponed match with Gettysburg College on Monday at 4 p.m.
