CARLISLE, Pa. - First-year
Isabel McGovern won three races on the afternoon, but it was not enough to push the Dickinson women's swimming team past the visiting Bloomsburg University as the Huskies left the Clarke Aquatic Center with a 160-82 win.
The Devils began the day with a third-place result in the 200-yard medley relay as the group of
Bella Gerkin,
Sarah McHenry,
Caroline Wasielevski and McGovern clocked in at 1:56.79. The other DC unit of
Sydney Farling,
Isobel O'Connell,
Molly Tate and
Norah Wilson landed five seconds behind in fourth (2:01.57).Â
Dickinson went second, fourth, and sixth during the 200-yard freestyle thanks to the trio of
Tori May (2:02.69),
Caroline Christianson (2:05.39), and
Annelyse Warner (2:18.07).
The group of Gerkin, Farling, and
Margie Winter held down fourth through sixth respectively during the 50-yard breaststroke with times of 34.61, 35.22, and 37.84 respectively.
Two DC athletes earned podium spots in the 100-yard butterfly as McGovern grabbed her first win at 59.27, while
Emma Johnston hit the wall in 1:02.12 for third.
Wasielevski grabbed the second straight win for the Red and White by besting the field in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.84. The first-year duo of Tate and Warner took fifth (27.79) and sixth (30.13).
Johnston built on her third-place result during the 100-yard butterfly by taking second in the 100-yard freestyle after touching the wall in 56.36. Wilson landed in fourth with a mark of 59.17.
O'Connell was the only member of the Red and White to compete in the 100-yard backstroke earning a fourth-place result by clocking in at 1:06.25.
Farling added a solid showing during the 100-yard breaststroke finishing second in 1:15.71, followed by Gerkin and
Sarah Mulcahy in fourth (1:16.18) and fifth (1:17.20). Â
McGovern's second win occurred in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 27.30, before nabbing her third in the ensuing race the 100-yard individual medley at 1:02.07. In that same race Johnston joined her on the podium in third (1:04.96), while fellow first-year May landed in sixth (1:07.02).
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Christianson, Johnston, Wasielevski, and Wilson took second with a time of 1:45.16.
May and Christianson competed in the final event of the meet the 400-yard individual medley finishing in second (4:53.92) and fifth (5:08.76) respectively.
