ORLANDO, Fla. - Haverford College women's tennis sophomore Ellie Esterowitz competed in the Round of 32 at the NCAA Singles Championships at the USTA National Campus on Friday, as singles action began in the Lake Nona section of Orlando. Esterowitz fell to Shianna Guo of University of Chicago to open competition.

Guo, the nation's 33rd-ranked player and the Maroon's No. 2 singles entrant, advanced to the Round of 16 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory, continuing momentum after her squad reached the national final for the second consecutive year earlier this week.

Esterowitz, a first-team All-CC selection in singles, was making her first appearance in the national tournament but was the second consecutive selection to the NCAA Championships from Haverford, as teammate Abbey Russano earned a bid a season ago.

Esterowitz closes out her sophomore season, with a 16-8 overall record. She posted a gleaming 7-1 mark during Centennial Conference action. In doubles play, Esterowitz went 15-6 including 12-4 during the spring dual match campaign.

As just a sophomore, Esterowitz will look to make a mark during her junior campaign as the Fords attempt to make a run for the NCAA Championships as a team after a solid 2023 campaign with a young squad that featured no seniors on the active roster.
