MORRIS COUNTY, NJ - The Swarthmore College golf team is tied for fourth place out of 11 teams after the opening round of the Garden State Collegiate on Saturday.

Michael Brown tied for third overall after the opening round with an even 72 on the afternoon. Gyan Bains also sits in the top-10 as he sits one-over-par for the tournament.  

FIRST ROUND RESULTS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brown paced the Garnet as he shot an even 72 on the afternoon. The senior earned two birdies on the afternoon as he carded his lowest round of the season. 

- Bains carded a season-low 73 (+1) with one birdie in the opening round. The junior is currently tied for seventh overall.

- Henry Lei is tied for 18th overall with a score of 78 (+6). Lei carded one birdie as he posted his lowest single round effort of the season. 

- Alex Cheriel carded Swarthmore's fourth score under 80 strokes with a 79 (+7) for the opening round. He had one birdie on the afternoon.
