Ryan McGarry and freshman
Charlie Dolan each posted a top-20 finish to lead the Green Terror to 11th place at The Hershey Cup on Monday.
McDaniel totaled a 314 in Monday's second round, an improvement of 10 strokes from the first round. The team finished with a two-day total of 638 which was two strokes behind Allegheny and NYU who finished in a tie for ninth.
The Green Terror finished five strokes back of Centennial Conference rival Gettysburg in eighth while Franklin & Marshall came in fifth with a 620 after a second round 307.
RPI won the team title with a 608, three strokes ahead of host, the University of Rochester.
McGarry carded a three-over par 74 to place 14th with a two-day total of 154. He improved six strokes and 15 places from the first round as he totaled 15 pars, including eight on the front nine where he was one-over. He finished the tournament with 22 pars, the fourth-most among the 81 players in the field.
Dolan was the lone Green Terror to record back-to-back rounds in the 70s as he followed an opening round 77 with a second-round 78 to place 16th with a 155. He carded 11 pars, posting a four-over on the front and a three-over on the back.
Freshman
Ethan Crabb finished with a 164 after turning in an 81 in Monday's second round. He turned in 10 pars and was four-over on the front and six-over on the back.
Sophomore
Hogan Shultze carded an 82 and finished with a two-day total of 166 while sophomore
Dell Grieser improved six strokes from the first round, posting an 81 to finish with a 168. Grieser had one of McDaniel's two birdies on the day on the par-3, 200-yard eighth hole.
After shooting seven-over through the first seven holes, Grieser went three-over on the final 11.
Playing as an individual, junior
Evan Rutherford carded the team's other birdie on the par-4, 382-yard seventh hole as he improved four strokes over his opening round with an 81. He finished the tournament with a 166.
McDaniel returns to action on Friday, April 14 in the opening round of the Fred Kravetz Invitational hosted by Rochester at Irondequoit Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.
