• The Short Story:
Lillian Scott scored 28 points to help lead the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team to a come-from-behind victory against Transylvania, 73-65, in the opening round of the Hyatt Place Tipoff Tournament at Mary Washington.
How it Happened
• The Pioneers took a seven-point lead in the first quarter on a three by Zenoviah Walker to make the score 10-3 and another three from Celia Kline put them up 10 with 5:12 remaining.
• Hopkins got to within eight on a jumper by
Diarra Oden which made the score 13-5 but Transylvania went back up by 10 with two free throws as the Pioneers ended the first ten minutes of play with a 17-7 lead.
• An 8-0 run brought JHU to within 10 at 4:28 and a layup from
Lillian Scott cut the Pioneers' lead to eight with 3:15 remaining in the half. Another layup from Scott capped the 16-0 Blue Jay run and made the score 28-27 with 2:08 remaining. The Pioneers then scored the quarter's last four points to take a 32-27 lead into halftime.
• Scott tied the game at 38 with a layup at 5:44 and a three from
Maggie Wodicka gave the Blue Jays their first lead of the game, 41-38 at 3:30. A three from Scott and a jumper from
Rory Cole put Johns Hopkins up seven as JHU outscored the Pioneers, 20-9 in the third quarter as Hopkins took a 47-41 lead into the game's final quarter.

Lexie Scholtz hit a three to give the Blue Jays a 10-point lead as her shot made the score 57-47 with 5:57 to go in the game.
• Transylvania cut the Blue Jay lead in half with a 5-0 run, but a three from
Jess Sweeney and free throws from Scholtz put JHU back up by 10.
• Scott drilled a three at 1:12 to make it a 12-point Hopkins lead and the Blue Jays would hold on to claim a 73-65 come-from-behind victory.
What it Means
• This is the first time since 2011-12 that the Blue Jays have won the first two games of the season.
• This is the first meeting between Hopkins and the Pioneers.
Inside the Box Score
• Scott led all scorers with 28 points while Cole (10) and Scholtz (14) also scored in double-digits for JHU. Cole also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds while Scholtz brought down eight.
• The Pioneers also had three players score in double figures as Shelby Boyle scored 23 while Kline added 15 and Ashton Woodard had 12. Boyle also grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double.
