Nate Henty Brown led three freshmen in double figures with 19 points as the Muhlenberg men's basketball team defeated King's, 62-53, for its first win of the season.
Freshman
Dan Gaines recorded a double-double in his second game with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman
Noah Watson came off the bench to score 12 points.
The Mules (1-1) started strong, jumping out to a 17-6 lead behind a pair of three-pointers by sophomore
Michael Morreale. The Monarchs (0-2) came back to go ahead, 27-25, before Muhlenberg closed out the half on a 7-0 run to take a 32-27 lead into the locker room.
The game was tied at 38-all before Watson hit one of his three three-pointers with 12:53 remaining to put Muhlenberg ahead for good.Â
King's was within two at 48-46 at the 9:28 mark, but Henty Brown scored seven straight points to help the Mules build a double-digit lead and put the game out of reach.
The Mules, who return home to host the Scotty Wood Tournament this weekend, held King's to 28.8-percent shooting. Morreale contributed to the defensive effort by drawing two charges in the second half.
