BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Mike Miller (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) placed 45th out of 292 runners in the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation, leading the Gettysburg College men's cross country team to a seventh-place finish among 36 schools in the "White" race of the Paul Short Run on Saturday at Lehigh University.
The Bullets top-three runners finished within 18 second apart.
Ramapo University won the team title with 105 points while Swarthmore College (121), Coast Guard Academy (127), Cortland State (132), and Muhlenberg College (243) rounded out the top-five.
Miller finished the 8,000-meter course with a 27:33 time. Sophomore Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) and freshman William Hopkins (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton) placed 55th and 58th with times of 27:47 and 27:51, respectively, while senior Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) was close behind, taking 72nd in 28:08. Completing the team score was freshman Patrick Neighbour (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional), who took 76th in a personal-record time of 28:13. McKeever and Hopkins also set new PR's as well.
Finishing as displacers were senior Matthew Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy (N.H.)) and junior Aren Heitmann (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe), who placed 117th and 123rd with times of 28:57 and 29:00, respectively.
The Bullets take a week off from competition before returning to action on Oct. 13 with the 29th annual Gettysburg Invitational.
