Match Highlights
  • Martin paced the Bullets by winning six of his seven matches. He opened his day with a pair of first-period pins before dropping a 10-8 decision to Fox Maxwell from Bridgewater State in the quarterfinals. That would be the Gettysburg senior's last loss of the day as he won his next four matches by decision. In the third-place bout, Martin defeated David Reinhart 9-7 and improved to 16-4 on the season.
  • Sophomore Luke Kowalski (Derwood, Md./Saint John's) earned a top-four finish for the fourth time in as many events by grabbing fourth at 133 pounds. He cruised through his first three bouts by fall (2:38), major decision (13-2), and fall (1:50) to reach the semifinals. Kowalski was upended by third-ranked David Massey from Mount Union 9-2, but he bounced back with a 9-2 win in his first consolation bout. Greensboro's Josh Wilson managed to slip past the Gettysburg first-year 12-10 in overtime in the third-place match.
  • Junior Eric Mougalian (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) won his first two matches by fall (6:34) and injury default to reach the quarterfinals at 149 where he was defeated by Mount Union's Justin Rayner 12-5. Mougalian tossed Christian Logan from Washington & Jefferson on his back with 11 seconds left in the first period before dropping a close 6-4 decision to Jake Coniglio of Messiah. In the seventh-place bout, the Gettysburg junior scored an 8-4 win over McDaniel's Jeovannie Martinez.
  • Junior Brendan Loder (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) and sophomore David Bancroft Jr. (Brewster, N.Y./Trinity-Pawling School) won their opening bouts at 197 and 157, respectively. After getting bounced to the consolation bracket, each grappler ran off three consecutive wins with the former winning by fall (0:43), injury default, and decision (6-0), and the latter winning by decision (4-2), major decision (9-0), and decision (3-2). Loder took down Muhlenberg's Paul Parise 8-3 in the seventh-place match, while Bancroft ended his day with an 11-4 loss to McDaniel's Xavier Howard in the seventh-place bout.
  • Senior Kelvin Angelo Cupay (Beach Park, Ill/Warren Township) did all his heavy lifting in the wrestleback at 184. After losing his opening match by decision, Cupay compiled four consecutive victories in the consolation bracket, including a pair of major decisions. The senior ended his day with his third major decision of the tournament with a 14-6 win over Ryan Weitz of Alderson Broaddus in the seventh-place match.
