HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team controlled every aspect of its match during a 3-0 triumph over McDaniel on Saturday afternoon. The Fords (8-6, 2-5 CC) did not allow a shot or a penalty corner over the entire 60 minute contest during a very convincing victory over the Green Terror (2-10, 0-7 CC).

The Fords got all the offense they would need with two quick strikes from Anna Kirn and Ariana Sulpizio during the first quarter. Those two opening goals came just 2:23 apart to set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. Kirn's fourth goal of the season came in unassisted fashion as she took possession of the ball near the top of the circle and blasted home the first goal of the afternoon.

Just over two minutes later, Sulpizio was able to tip her seventh goal this season into the right side of the cage off an assist from Casey Wakai. Sulpizio's goal was the 12th of her career while Wakai was credited with her second assist this season and the 18th point of her career.

Ironically, the Fords scored their first two goals during a quarter in which they attempted their fewest shots of the contest. Throughout the 60 minutes, Haverford racked up a 31-0 edge in shots and a 19-0 advantage in penalty corners.

Haverford ended its day by capitalizing on its last chance as the Fords were awarded a penalty corner with 50 seconds remaining in regulation. After making the initial insert, Kelsey Chai was on the receiving end of a pass from Roxy Vassighi on the near side of the cage to slot home her fourth goal of the season. Chai now has eight goals throughout her career while Vassighi notched her team-leading eighth helper of the season on the play.

Saturday's shutout was the team's third blanking of an opponent this season. Sunny Truslow played the entire 60 minutes in goal but went unchallenged the entire time to pick up her first solo shutout of the 2019 season. McDaniel goalie Paige Ford made 10 saves while the Green Terror also recorded a defensive save to prevent the Fords from doing any other damage in the attacking end.

With back-to-back Centennial Conference victories, the Fords will have a full week of preparation before heading out on the road to battle Dickinson next Saturday. That match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. noon opening pass in Carlisle.
