Women Win Gettysburg Invite, Anthony and Duffy Set Program Records

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's swimming team propelled themselves to victory with a dominant second day at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.

The Garnet led the pack with 1026 points to beat out the host Gettysburg, who followed with 873.5 points. Dickinson placed third overall followed by Ursinus, Scranton and Shippensburg.

The women wrapped up a successful weekend with three NCAA B-cut swims, five program records and plenty of all-time top-10 times. Elle Anthony and Lexi Duffy highlighted the day with a pair of program records, while Anthony also met the NCAA B-cut in her second event of the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duffy won the 200 backstroke with a program-record time of 2:05.50, while Erin Szuromi was third in the event with a 2:06.98 finish. Szuromi climbed to third all-time in program history.

- Anthony won the 100 freestyle in 51.51 to set a new program record and meet NCAA B-cut standard. Ainsley Jane Tambling was fourth in the event at 53.12 as she moved into seventh on the program's rankings.

- The Garnet dominated the 100 breaststroke as they claimed four of the five top spots. Sophie Rotival won the event with a 1:04.35 finish, while Gaby Ma was second with a 1:04.70 mark. Annabella Boardman tied for third overall with a time of 1:06.17, while Paige Poteet touched the wall at 1:07.14 to take fifth overall.

- Swarthmore claimed first and second overall in the 800 freestyle relay. Kate Hallmark, Maddie Adams-Miller, Georgi Mathews and Quinn Weygandt won the event with a time of 7:45.32, while the team of Anthony, Tambling, Mackenzie Tucker and Lauren Rohde touched the wall at 7:52.06. Swarthmore's top relay moved into fifth all-time in program history.

- The 200 medley relay of Kaja Arusha, Ma, Ashley Wong and Cara Lee won the event with a time of 1:44.55. The effort moved the team into second all-time in program history.

- Weygandt finished first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.49. Rohde also finished third in the event with a 4:37.06 mark.

- Wong took first overall in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.64. She was followed by Annaliese Chen and Hallmark with times of 56.82 and 57.03, respectively. Chen moved into fifth all-time in program history, while Hallmark climbed to sixth. Tambling also broke into the all-time top-10 with a time of 58.56 to move into ninth overall.

- Szuromi won the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.34. Duffy also took fourth in the event with a 59.64 mark.

- Ma finished first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:22.00. Rotival followed in third with a 2:23.83 effort and Boardman took fifth at 2:28.83. Ma improved to second all-time in program history.

- Chen had a top finish in the 200 butterfly with a 2:06.19 effort. Weygandt and Rohde followed with times of 2:08.12 and 2:08.56 to take second and third, respectively.

- Adams-Miller placed third with a time of 1:56.44 in the 200 freestyle. Mathews also touched the wall at 1:57.23 to take fourth place.

- Hallmark opened the night session with a second place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:24.33. Hallmark moved into second all-time in program history in the 1000 and 1650 freestyles, respectively. Olivia Stoetzer recorded a time of 17:53.93 to move into fourth all-time in 1650 freestyle.

- The Garnet closed the weekend with a second and third place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Hallmark, Anthony, Rotival and Lee moved into second in program history with a 3:30.91 effort.
