• Records: JHU (12-2, 7-0 CC) • SC (4-9, 1-6 CC)

• The Short Story: The 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team jumped out three-goal first quarter lead and went on to defeat visiting Swarthmore, 5-0, Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Hopkins grabbed the early lead, capitalizing on a penalty corner just 5:08 into the game. Junior Seema Sajjan took a hit from the left side of the circle, and sophomore Maddie Brown-Scherer redirected it on the ground and inside the left post.
• Sophomore Abby Birk took a pass from junior Michaela Corvi and beat Aaron Lankford to the near post with 4:09 to go in the quarter to make it a 2-0 game. With just four ticks left in the quarter, Birk lofted a shot over the defense and Lankford, that hit the crossbar and went in.
• Corvi was then on the receiving end as Hopkins pushed its lead to four at the 8:55-mark of the third quarter. And stop the offense. On a break, Lankford came out of her cage and went down to try and stop the offense, but Brown-Scherer lifted the ball over her and Corvi buried it into the open cage.
• Senior Christina Glaser got in on the action with 5:18 to play. Sophomore Megan Abate sent a long ball to Glaser who was one-on-one with the goalie. She spun around Lankford and then slotted home her first of the season.
