The Muhlenberg men's basketball team battled back from a seven-point halftime deficit to take the lead on two separate occasions in the second half before falling 78-72 at Gettysburg.
The Bullets (4-11, 3-5) scored the first eight points of the game and led the whole first half. However, led by a career-high 29 points from junior
Matt Gnias (pictured above) - including 17 in the second half - the Mules (8-7, 5-3) tied the game eight times over the final 20 minutes. The last came as freshman
Nate Henty Brown – who netted all 13 of his points in the second half – hit a pair of free throws with 6:25 left to tie the game at 59; however, the Mules were unable to get in front.
Freshman
Dan Gaines put the Mules in front for the first time with 11:18 left in the second half on a layup that followed a Henty Brown steal off an intercepted pass. Two Muhlenberg possessions later, senior
Erik Werheim gave the Mules a one-point lead as he laid in a dime from Gaines.
