APOLLO, Pa. –
The Gettysburg College men's golf team continued its torrid start to the fall by breaking the program scoring record on the second day of the Carnegie Mellon University Shootout at The Links at Spring Church Sunday.

After narrowly missing the program record by a stroke in its season-opening event last week, the Bullets rewrote the record book on Sunday. The team carded a 286 as the top four scorers all shot 74 or better. That mark topped the previous team low set at the Penn State Harrisburg Invitational three years ago.

Gettysburg finished sixth overall with a score of 578 over the course of the two-day event. Washington & Jefferson College surged to the top of the leaderboard on day two, firing a 271 to jump from fourth to first with a total score of 561. Thomas More University finished three strokes behind with 564.

Senior Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) once again led the way for the Orange and Blue, recording his second consecutive round of 69 to finish in a four-way tie for third place. Harcourt's total of 138 was three shy of Allegheny College's Matthew Del Rosso and two behind runner-up Benjamin Peticca from W&J.

Harcourt was one stroke shy of his personal collegiate low and the round marked his third in the 60s in as many events this fall.

Senior Dane Sethre-Hofstad (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) improved his score by two strokes from the opening day, posting a 71 on Sunday and finishing tied for 16th with a total of 144. Sophomore Daniel Rieger (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) finished tied for 30th with a score of 147 after posting a 74 on the final day.

Sophomore Quinn Greene (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) sliced 12 strokes off his first-round score, tying two other golfers for the best improvement in the tournament. Greene carded a career-low 72 on Sunday and finished tied for 54th with a total score of 156. Freshman Matthew Kalamar (Bethlehem, Pa./Allentown Central) joined his sophomore teammate in that position after carding a 79 in the final round.

Gettysburg competes in the Elizabethtown Fall Invitational at the Hershey Country Club East Course on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
