CLERMONT, Fla. - Swarthmore College Softball drop an extra inning thriller to Penn State Berks, 3-2, on Sunday morning at Legends Way Field in Florida. The second game of the day for the Garnet against Hiram College was postponed.
Over the nine inning battle, both Swarthmore and Penn State each tallied six hits.
Sam Hastings led the way as the center fielder recorded an RBI for the Garnet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Through 3.5 innings of action, the Garnet and Nittany Lions were scoreless.
Emily Bertrand knocked home
Olivia McClammy to break the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning. On a ground out to shortstop by Hastings,
Maya Estrera score as Swarthmore took a 2-0 lead into the fifth inning.
- Penn State tied the game up at two on an RBI single by Briana Smith. The Nittany Lions scored in the top half of the ninth inning to take a 3-2 lead.

Gwen Glatz recorded 5.1 innings of action allowing five hits, two runs and striking out two.
Meg Ozawa added 3.2 innings of one hit ball and recorded five strikeouts.
