Early Goals Lift No. 11 Dickinson Past Gettysburg in CC Semis

Bullets fall 3-0 at Dickinson in CC semifinals

CARLISLE, Pa.  – Nationally-ranked and top-seeded Dickinson College scored two early goals and added another in the second-half to defeat the fourth-seeded Gettysburg College women's soccer team in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon at Miller Memorial.

How It Happened…
  • First Half: Playing against each other for the second time in a week, Dickinson took command early by netting back-to-back goals within two minutes. Eleven minutes in the Red Devils and conference-leading scorer Tate tapped the ball into the back of the net off a corner kick from senior Addy Zandi. Tate then scored her second tally 1:44 later to put Dickinson ahead 2-0. The Bullets took two shot attempts on goal, one from sophomore Emma Bedell (Chatham, N.J./Mount Saint Mary) and the other from sophomore Molly O'Shea (Reading, Pa./Wilson), but Boyer stopped both.
  • Second Half: The Red Devils tacked on their final tally of the game at the 58:08 marker as Tate registered her second hat trick of the season. Gettysburg was only able to muster one shot, which came from Lareau with 59:23 on the clock.

  • Dickinson held the 10-5 edge in shots.
  • Gettysburg edged Dickinson in corner kicks, 6-4.
Centennial Conference Playoffs
  • The Bullets advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 2016.
  • Dickinson will play the winner of the No. 2 vs. No. 3 match on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Carlisle.
Where the Series Stands Now
The Bullets lead the Red Devils 20-9-4 in the all-time series that started in 1998. Gettysburg is 4-2-2 over the last eight meetings, and in five of those matches, the outcome has been decided by one goal.
 
Next Up
The NCAA will announce the field for the national playoffs on Monday, Nov. 11, at 1:30 p.m. on NCAA.com. Gettysburg will hope to make the national field for the first time since 2014 as an at-large selection.
