ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Scores went up on day two of the McDaniel College Spring Invitational, but Gettysburg College maintained its spot in the team standings, tying for second-place overall in the two-day event held at The Bridges Golf Club.
With colder temperatures and a prevailing wind, team and individual scores climbed during Sunday's final round on the par-72, 6,713-yard course. Only three teams in the 18-team field managed to drop their scores, none of which finished among the top 10. McDaniel College jumped into the top spot with a 312 on Sunday and finished with a total of 619 (307-312) to beat out Gettysburg and day one leader Lynchburg University by eight strokes. The Bullets posted 322 on Sunday after carding 305 in round one.
Individually, less than a third of the 91-player field managed to shave strokes from the opening round. The conditions didn't effect medalist Michael Lange from Rosemont College who improved his score by a stroke with a 75. Lange finished tied with McDaniel's Kevin Keane with a score of 151 and took the individual title after comparing scorecards.
