A 2-0 win over Immaculata has the Muhlenberg men's soccer team off to a 2-0 start for the third consecutive season. The home-opening win is the Mules' third in as many years.
Senior
Kevin Hagan put Muhlenberg on the board in the 12
th minute when he fired a pass from sophomore
Stephen Carton at the top left of the box into the right side of the goal. A free kick in the 54
th minute gave freshman
Chris Richards his third goal in two games as Mule.
Muhlenberg had chances to add more including two from senior
Erich Buerkert in the first half. His first chance came off a long cross for a shot right in front of the goal mouth in the 10
th minute, then again off a header in the 28
th minute forcing the Immaculata goalkeeper to make saves both times. Carton had an opportunity early in the second half when he won a ball near the midfield and beat the defender for a one-on-one with a charging keeper.
Senior goalkeeper
Raymond Leto faced four shots in the second half and came up with big saves each time, including one on a penalty kick.
Muhlenberg has won each of the first three meetings with Immaculata by a combined score of 10-1.
