Women's Tennis Defeated by Otterbein

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Ursinus Bears women's tennis team suffered a 8-1 loss to Otterbein on Tuesday morning at the USTA campus.

 

 

With the loss, the Bears fall to 2-2 overall and the Cardinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) improved to 8-2 overall.

 

 

Otterbein took all three of the doubles points to take an early 3-0 lead in the match. At the first doubles spot, Otterberin's Erin Storrer and Emma Henson defeated the Bears duo of first-year Allie Armour and senior Maddie Russell, 8-3. Sophomores Avery Samer and Caitlin Vinsonhaler were downed in the No. 2 doubles spot by Lillia Walter and Madi Muellera by a score of 8-0, while the duo of first-year Shannon Stewart and sophomore Claire Burke fell 8-1 at the No. 3 doubles spot to Rachelle Moses and Julia Gillin.

 

 

In singles, Burke highlighted the Bears day by earning a 6-4, 7-5 win over Mueller at the No 4 spot. Armour was defeated by Storrer 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot while Russell suffered a 6-3, 6-4 setback to Walter at the No. 2 spot. Vinsonhaler fell 6-1, 6-1 to Henson at the No. 3 spot and Stewart was edged 6-3, 2-6, 11-9) by Moses at No. 5 singles. Junior Ava Compagnoni was defeated 6-3, 6-2 at the No.6 spot by Cassady Shough.

 

 

The Bears will return to action Thursday, March 10th as they will take on Ohio Wesleyan at 11:30 a.m.
